[edit] Where do Progressives Stand?
In Wisconsin, non-profit arts organizations and their audiences generate $418 million in economic activity and 15,000 full-time jobs, according to the 2007 New Economy Funding Initiative report issued by the Wisconsin Arts Board. Despite the integral role the arts play in Wisconsin's economy, Wisconsin ranks consistently in the bottom 20 percent of the fifty states for state arts agency funding.
Progressives should advocate for expanded arts-based educational opportunities, increased state grants to arts organizations, and state support of the arts industry in general to ensure Wisconsin remains innovative and relevant in a knowledge-based economy.
