Where Do Progressives Stand?

Wisconsin was named by the Black Commentator as one of the "Top Ten Worst Places to be Black" in America, cited for its rates of incarceration of blacks by percentage of the population, which are the highest in the nation. The racial dimension to the need for criminal justice reform is but one of the most visible problems the state is struggling with today. Wisconsin traditionally maintains some of the highest incarceration rates in the nation, incurring a high cost to Wisconsin taxpayers and diverting money away from more valuable investments like early education and job creation that decrease the likelihood of criminal activity in individuals in the long term.

Without criminal justice reform, Wisconsin will continue to be held back by the human capital squandered in the criminal justice system.
