[edit] Where do Progressives Stand?
Progressives working in and with the LGBT community believe that providing basic job protections for LGBT persons is both good public policy and sound business practice. Furthermore, the fight against an anti-marriage equality amendment provides an excellent opportunity to move the state forward in its understanding and support of basic rights for its LGBT citizens.
We believe that the rights afforded to LGBT persons and protected by their governments should include:
- Marriage and the rights and privileges afforded by such
- Employment protections
- Protection from bias-motivated crime
- Social support for children of same-sex couples
- Safe living situations for LGBT seniors.
